Connections SLP was created for families who are looking for a different way to support their kids’ social learning. As strong believers in the power of parent coaching, our speech-language pathologists work with school-aged kids and teens and their caregivers to help families ready to focus on friendship. We use each client’s strengths and interests to help them connect with peers in a way that is positive and personally meaningful, and we help parents learn just what their own kids need to reach their goals. Depending on your family’s current needs, we’ll match you with one of our four services: Friendship Foundations, TalkAbility™, PlayGreat @ Connections SLP, and PEERS®.
Our Foundations program was developed in response to requests from families of children ages 4-6 who were seeking individualized coaching prior to or following our programs for younger children. These individual sessions help parents and kids learn and practice the building blocks of friendship, such as increasing engagement, sustaining and lengthening interactions, expanding and varying play and conversation interests, building flexibility and self-regulation skills. This program is offered to families with children who are speaking in at least simple sentences who are not yet ready for the TalkAbility™ program. Available for families in Ontario and Nova Scotia, Canada.
This research-based program created by The Hanen Centre® is for children ages 5-8 who are already speaking in lengthy sentences and ready to work on early friendship skills. Available for families in Ontario and Nova Scotia, Canada.
PlayGreat is our very own, very unique program for families of children in grades 1-6 who are ready to learn and talk about making and keeping friends. We help parents use their children’s strengths and interests to create and coach successful playdates and get-togethers. Currently available to families in Ontario, Canada. Nova Scotia programs coming soon!
The Program for the Education & Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS) for Adolescents® is an evidence-based program for teens in grades 7-12 and their parents or other supportive adults. Available for families in Ontario, Canada.
